Initial Unemployment Claims Jump to 3-Month High

In the week ending December 6th, initial jobless claims were at a seasonally adjusted level of 236,000, the highest level in three months. This represents an increase of 44,000 from the previous week's figure, the largest weekly rise in over four years. The latest reading was higher than the forecast of 220,000.
