Inflation Since 1872: A Long-Term Look at the CPI

The Consumer Price Index for Urban Consumers (CPI-U) release for November puts the year-over-year inflation rate at 2.74%. The latest reading keeps inflation below the 3.72% average since the end of the Second World War for a 29th straight month. Additionally, for a 9th consecutive month, inflation sits below the 10-year moving average which is at 3.14%.

Q3 GDP Advance Estimate: Real GDP at 4.3%, Higher Than Expected

The U.S. economy showed robust growth in the third quarter, posting its strongest reading in two years. The BEA's advance estimate of real gross domestic product showed economic growth increased at an annual rate of 4.3% in Q3 2025. The latest estimate was higher than the 3.3% forecast and marked an uptick from the Q2 final estimate of 3.8%.
