Empire State Manufacturing Survey: Activity Increases Modestly in January

Manufacturing activity increased modestly in New York State, according to the Empire State Manufacturing January survey. The diffusion index for General Business Conditions rose 11.4 points to 7.7, turning positive again after dipping slightly below zero last month.
