Margin Debt Hits Record High with 4.2% Jump in January

FINRA has released new data for margin debt, now available through January. The latest debt level is at $937.253 billion, a record high. Margin debt was up 4.2% month-over-month (MoM) and up 33.5% year-over-year (YoY). However, after adjusting for inflation, the debt level was up 3.6% MoM and up 29.6% YoY.
