Core PCE Inflation Rises 2.8% in June, Higher Than Expected

The Fed’s preferred inflation gauge, the core PCE price index, rose 2.8% year-over-year in June. This was higher than the expected 2.7% growth and a slight pickup from May. On a monthly basis, the core index was up 0.3%, as expected.

Real Disposable Income Per Capita Down 0.1% in June

With the release of June's report on personal incomes and outlays, we can now take a closer look at "real" disposable personal income per capita. To two decimal places, disposable income per capita was up 0.22% month-over-month. When adjusted for inflation, real disposable income per capita was down 0.06%.
