Initial Unemployment Claims Up 7K, Higher Than Expected

In the week ending August 2nd, initial jobless claims were at a seasonally adjusted level of 226,000. This represents an increase of 7,000 from the previous week's figure. The latest reading was higher than the 221,000 forecast.
